As we opine (too?) often, fall is so bittersweet! We are in love with the light, the textures, the colors, the smells and even the sounds of this ever-so-fleeting season, but we hate to see summer go for another year. Here is the last of the cutting garden’s bounty (excepting the ornamental grasses, of course)–the sweet and simple beauty of the zinnia. They grew in all colors this year–orange, salmon, coral, fuchsia, white…and we loved them all. They made appearances in a number of our favorite designs and we loved those pieces all the more for knowing they contained a little somethin’ home grown! These guys are the last of the crop–till next year, sweet zinnia!
